Where?

Christyan was born in Bulgaria, and moved to the U.S. when he was seven years old. He has been to all 49 of the states, except Hawaii, and currently lives in Kansas City, Missouri.

What led to Performance Coaching?

Christyan’s experience in performance coaching started at a young age, playing sports and becoming a dynamic basketball player, and has now grown into a career. At age 19, he was most inspired by a physical therapist with whom he was working. He tore his ACL, MCL, and meniscus and while this is just an average day in the life of a competitive athlete, he was dreading the recovery that awaited him.

However, his physical therapist soon became his hero!

He loved his style of just authentically saying what was on his mind and always putting the client’s best interests first. Christyan was in awe of how his PT could talk to him like a strength coach, then instantly turn around and talk to an older woman in a gentle and soft voice, then again turn and yell something at Christyan about his terrible form. He made what could have been a grueling experience actually enjoyable and left Christyan wanting to have a similar impact on clients.

Previous experience?

Now, after obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science and Exercise Science, and a Master’s degree in Athletic Counseling, Christyan’s life completely revolves around sports, from coaching his kids’ baseball and soccer teams, to providing consulting to executives and working with professional athletes. He loves working with anyone that is trying to make a leap into a bigger and better place, whether in the arena or in a boardroom. With almost a decade’s worth of performance coaching experience, including being the Mental Performance Coach for all TB12 athletes and staff, he feels confident he can help anyone looking to make that leap from good to great.

Coaching style?

Christyan's coaching style focuses on two words: deliberate and consistent.

Christyan's coaching style focuses on two words: deliberate and consistent. He does not believe in wasting time or devoting energy to useless areas of one’s life. Instead, he has found success in helping clients find small, yet deliberate actions they can take each day in order to develop effective systems for creating long-term positive results.

Likes and loves?

In his spare time, Christyan loves kayaking, hiking to waterfalls (Despite TLC’s advice), and watching pretty much any sport with the family. Christyan’s family is his biggest motivator in life. He experienced poverty at a young age, being the son of immigrants, so his parents raised him to value hard work and effort. Christyan strives to be considered among the top in his field and is working to leave a legacy for his children to continue to grow.  Although he strives to be one of the best at what he does, he also has a genuine belief that he is his best self when he is helping others be their best self. Luckily, he found a great career to help him do just that!
